"Daniel" Colebunders is correct.... "Danny" or "Dany" is a diminutive.
They only write it with one N, not two, as there's is only one N in Daniel.

Re Circuit of Ireland 71. I think both Boyd and Sclater cars were BDA engines although both cars would have begun life as works TwinCams (as both were probably runing in Group6 as "prototypes" it is not strictly correct to say either was an "RS1600" or a "TwinCam").
B.Lee is Barry Lee, better known as a short oval track racer.

Carles, you have the dates for 1964 and 1965 ?

Giorgio
Here you can see what I found about:
The Rallye of Romania (Raliul Romaniei) Is the most prestigeous romanian rally. At the begining, the route was along the Danube, and the rallye's name was The Danube Rallye-Dacia . Then it changed to The Rallye of Romania. First race was in 1964 and the number of cars was 45. The winner was: at Tourism class - W.Roser-Cr. Staffner(Steyr-Puch), at GT class - F. Herborn-R. Altman (Porsche Carrera) and at Rallye class - A. Hohlheimer - B. Hermann (Fiat 1300). In 1973, Walter Rohrl(Opel Ascona) won this rally ahead of Sandro Munari(Lancia Fulvia HF) and Fiat official team (Fiat 124 Abarth).
First romanian victory was in 1987 (Ludovic Balint-Constantin Zarnescu).

I'm sure someone from Germany with results records will be able to help. I do not speak German but the wording effectively says "German Automobile Club. National Governing Body for Motorsport in Germany". I'm not sure whether the last line is an address or some sort of registration of the car for motorsport.
What engine size is it (1071cc or 970 or 1275)? "Dry" (not Hydrolastic) suspension? If it competed in Group 1 then, the only modifications allowed would have been, I think, a maximum of 2 additional front lights.

Thanks for replying. the car was built in may 1964, it is has the rubber cone suspension and the engine size is 1275cc with the early dump tube open crankcase breather and the vertical oil cooler under the generator. acording to the chassis number it would be the the 43rd cooper S built with the 1275cc. I've searche for a while now and it seems to me that most of the 1964 info on rallying got swalowed buy the bmc win at monte carlo.

OK, that was what was at the back of my mind - that the Cooper S was not hom*ologated in Group 1 until later (1275 only ever was), so "G1" seems likely to refer to a German national class, not the FIA Grouping (which might help narrow it down for anyone who has results). (The oil cooler was not fitted as standard until later either - only just in time for 1966 I think - so if Trifels 64 was an International event, the car ran in Group 2 or 3 of the old Appendix J)

I also have a document wich points out the car was shiped to Great Britain and worked on by Alexander tuning later that year and the engine was rebuilt to G2 specs. possibilaty the oil cooler was installed then???

Just to correct earlier post, a 1275 could possibly have run in Gp1 by April 64. It is a bit before the time I have direct knowledge of! The 64 Monte Carlo winning Cooper S was a 1071 but the 1275 and 970 were both hom*ologated by April 64 in Gp2. Makinen won the Tulip rally in a 1275 in April 64 and I have actually seen a copy of the front page of the 970 hom*ologation papers (but not the 1275) showing that Gp2 hom*ologation was achieved in April. I am pretty sure I have seen other reference to both the 970 and 1275 being hom*ologated at the same time. This was under the version of Appendix J that applied up to 31.12.65. The new Appendix J for 1966 had the same minimum production quantity of 1000 for Gp2 but now required 5000 for Gp1 when 1000 was the previous quantity. These quantities were not checked as closely as they would be now. It is quite possible that hom*ologation (1000) was achieved in April 64 even if production only started in March! I have not seen direct evidence that the 1275 was hom*ologated in Gp1 at the same time as well as Gp2 under the "old" Appendix J but it must have been at some point because Tony Fall made his name in a private 1275 Gp1 car in 1965 European Championship rallies.
It would have been the "dry" suspension - it was under the later Gp1 that only Hydrolastic was allowed (until a re-hom*ologation later allowed it again in Gp2 but not Gp1)..
Alexander was one of countless small UK tuning firms of the period. Modifying it to Gp2 would not necessarily have meant full works spec (Downton engine) and would probably have been head and cam and 1.5 inch SUs in place of 1.25inch. The front panel should show signs of being cut and turned inwards to form the bottom mounting for the oil cooler. Cars fitted with it as standard later on would show a neater fitting.

I made a mistake on my 1st post ,the car was built in may 1964 no march and the oil cooler is mounted on the motor beneath the generator not on the front panel ,it does look like a bmc instalation. once again I apricciate your replys and knowledge .thank you. It has been dificult to gather info from over seas about the little car. I hade a chance to review some of the paper work I got with car and I states the car was also raced thru the 1965 season In Germany as G2 .

Yes, that is race spec, not rally. Even on tarmac the works rally cars would not have used a 648 cam with a 3.9 diff!

he is Flemish!

I am well aware of that. I have driven in the same rallies as him.
What it isn't is "Poul" in above post. It's because I have seen it written as "Pol" so much lately that I was asking someone from Belgium if this was so. It always used to be written in Paul in either region of Belgium.

Juha

And he is Flemish!
Exactly, the man only has one real name and it's written AU. A lot of people have started writing it 'Pol' but it's not correct. And neither is 'Polle' as it's his nickname along with others like "the moustache" or "The best in the West". :D

Not even as a national event. It was restarted in 2003 under a different name but it's not on the national calendar as it's a small (but very popular) rally.

Now I have the top from 75 up to 90. Would you have 91 too? I only have the first seven. I need 73 and 74 too that's a bit harder. :D
Top 10 of Haspengouw '91 was already sent by Kyosti. It was not so long ago, just few days. (message no 617)

I've just checked my diary for 1978 & the Manx was two days Friday & Saturday 15 & 16 September. I was there watching a friend competing in his first international, sadly he didn't finish that year but finished 4th in class two years later.

I've read that, in order to be classified in 1987 World Rally Championship for drivers, every works driver had to have at least 1 start on a non-European rally.
However, Jean Ragnotti (a works Renault driver) was classified 5th in the Drivers' Championship with 51 points, having competed on Monte, Portugal, Corsica, Acropolis and San Remo. Not one outside Europe.

The same goes for his team-mate Francois Chatriot, as well, classified 13th, with 22 points.

Were Renault team excepted from that rule,or what?
Does anyone know anything more about that?

Thanks!

According to Martin Holmes' explanation of "points rules" for WRC 1987 driver had to copete at least once to became the World Champion. There is nothing about dividing drivers as "works" and "non-works" ones and applying them different rules. But participants of Production Car Cup (group N) to be classified were obliged to take part at least one outside Europe.

In the final results of 1987, Jean Ragnotti (5th) is considered as NP (no points) in some books and the same for Chatriot. Probably, your final results includes Ragnotti, Chatriot and some more elses (Béguin, Salonen, Loubet, Saby, Auriol...) but they must not be in an official classem*nt.
In the constructors classem*nt, Renault figures in third place according with the points it gets with the local 18 GTX in Argentina Rally

Interesting point this. It's the first time I've heard about this rule, and as Janusz has already mentioned Martin Holmes doesn't say anything about it in World Rallying. When I'm home I'll check some other books, but I don't remember seeing this rule before. What is your source?

Hi kabouter!
It's been a while since I last heard from you!

Well, like janusz said, it looks like it was a one non-European start required in order to became a Drivers' world champion, and not to be eligible to be classified in the championship, as it says on jonkka's site, here, in the note in the top right corner:

http://www.juwra.com/season_1987_points.html

Here´s a site with an overview of all the S1´s ever used in events, including the Race of Champions. The pilots were mostly WRC drivers like Sainz, Kankkunen, Blomqvist etc. (maybe someone else knows more).

I'm sorry, my best guess is that it's Gerard De Boeck, possibly with a codriver named Conings, but I can't find any confirmation.

I have done some additions to the 1980 and 1981 Rallye Monte Carlo results in RallyBase last night (http://www.rallybase.nl/index.php?type=result&rallyid=288 and http://www.rallybase.nl/index.php?type=result&rallyid=276 respectively) and I discovered in both editions Swiss Daihatsu drivers.

In 1980 the following car was entered in Group 1:
#82 Mario Luini - Michel Wyder (38th overall)

In 1981 there are the following cars, all in Group 2:
#44 Carron - Schaer (retired, classified 93rd)
#50 Chapuis - Bernasconi (unknown)
#63 Mario Luini - Michel Wyder (28th overall)

The only car I could find that Daihatsu produced in those days that could be suitable for rallying is the 1-litre Charade. Is it correct that's the car used?

And does anyone know the first names of Carron (was it Jean-Marie or was it Philippe), Schaer, Chapuis and Bernasconi, and what happened to Chapuis?

On this subject, I recall Ragnotti certainly being listed in the championship points tables in magazines and on TV at the time. It could have been a mistake, but I somehow doubt they would have calculated the standings themselves without reference to the official listings.

I have: Jean-Marie Carron, Pierre Schaer, Eric D. Chapuis and Edy Bernasconi. There were turbocharged Charades, too. But I don't know which model they used in MC'80 and MC'81.

Thank you for the information Janusz and Giorgio. I think it's Edy Bernasconi in 1981 by the way, or could Edy and Enzo be the same person?

Some first names from Boucles de Spa and Haspengouw 1987:
Valère Vandermaesen - Julien Aerts
Rob Stoneman - Roy Kernaghan
codriver of Renaud Verreydt is Jean-Manuel Jamar

2nd in Wallonie 1987: Lars-Erik Walfridsson (Swe) and Guy Briesen (Bel).

Hello,

Does anyone know where I could find some pictures of Minna Sillankorva, 1991 FIA Ladies' World Rally Champion? Her or her car will do.
Also, are there any sites with Finnish national rally results? I don't read Finnish so find it hard to navigate round Finnish rallying sites.
It's for my website.

Thanks!

Let's see if we can fill some more holes in the RallyBase WRC results.

For Rally Argentina 1994 somebody sent me the results from Autosprint. I'll list the

finishers outside the top 10 here - can anyone fill in missing first names, entry numbers,

and confirm/correct nationalities?
11 (??) Santos + Adriana Manzanares (ARG) VW Gol 1.6 (A) 7:40.39
12 (??) ? Roca / ? Schmidt (ARG?) Renault 18 GTX (A) 7:47.49
13 (??) ? Bregagnolo / ? Spaciuk (ARG?) Renault 18 GTX (A) 7:55.13
14 (??) Pablo Gaviña / Adriana Iriart Urruty (ARG) Renault 18 GTX (A) 8:15.58
15 (??) Nelson? Sanabria / ? Bogado (PAR?) VW Gol 1.6 (A) 8:16.08
16 (31) Stefan Reininger / Robert Csösz (AUT) Renault Clio W. (N) 8:25.05
-- (??) ? Cravero / Ezequiel? Queralt (ARG) VW Gol 1.6 (A) 8:26.45
-- (??) ? Mariano / ? Manavella (ARG?) Fiat Regata 85 (A) 8:28.08
-- (??) ? Martini / ? Vitola (ARG?) Renault 18 GTX (A) 8:29.53
-- (??) ? Sanabria / ? Rodríguez (PAR?) Lada Samara 1.6 (A) 8:42.53
20 (55) Enrique Levalle / Patricio Isakson (CHI) Suzuki Swift GTI (N) 8:51.18
21 (??) ? Pappalardo / ? Muhr (ARG?) Renault 18 GTX (A) 8:58.15
22 (106) Gustavo Dechecchi / Mario Ramos (ARG) Subaru Justy (N) 9:03.53
23 (107) Heriberto Ortíz / Atilio Rolandi (ARG) Suzuki Swift GTI (N) 9:07.28

25 (??) ? Morosano / ? Marquet (ARG?) Renault 18 GTX (A) 9:23.45

As you can see there are four crews between Reininger in 16th and Levalle in 20th. I guess one of these four was excluded or retired on the final road section. Does anyone know who is the odd one out ;)

I seem to have a mistake there, I'll correct that.

And it's #77 Alberto Martini / Gerardo Vitola (Jorge found in a magazine they retired on the last leg).

Dear Friends,

This is a copy of a post I made in the general forum, but being about history I’m posting it here too, because I hope You can help me.

I come to You, again, in the sequence of the extraordinary results obtained with the Corolla Levin (see http://rallybase.motorsportforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113267), to ask for Your help.

As You know I am a modeller in 1/43 scale on the theme Portugal Rally (From TAP Rally 1967 to 2001 and WRC 2007).

I’m starting a series of Ford Escort RS 1600 and RS 2000, having taken part in the above events from the sixties and seventies, and I would profoundly appreciate if You could provide me with Images and information of Your historical databases to support the construction of my models.

As I have seen with the Corolla Levin, no one has better information than You about historical Rallying and Your help will be priceless.

From the Rally Base records I collected these examples but I know there is more:

1973 – TAP Rally of Portugal

Nº 23 Francisco Santos / João Anjos – RS 1600 Gr.2
Nº 30 Tony Fowkes / Peter O’Gorman – RS 1600 Gr.2
Nº 32 Douglas Harris / John Jeson – RS 1600 Gr.2
Nº 83 Andy Michailidis / N. Anstis – RS 1600 Gr.2

1974 – TAP Rally of Portugal

Nº 12 Chris Sclater / Neil Wilson – RS 1600 Gr.2 9th overall
Nº 34 Chris Waten / Tim Bosence – RS 1600 Gr.2 14th overall

1975 – Rally of Portugal Oporto Wine

Nº 42 Fernando Lezama / Javier Arnaiz RS 1600 Gr.2 9th overall

1976 - Rally of Portugal Oporto Wine

Nº 10 Keith Billows / Martin Holmes RS 2000 Gr.2
Nº 21 Giovanni Salvi / Pedro de Almeida RS 2000 Gr.1 7th overall

1977 - Rally of Portugal Oporto Wine

Nº 30 Giovanni Salvi / Pedro de Almeida RS 2000 Gr.1 8th overall

I have few photos from some of these cars but I’m counting on You to complete the necessary, from these and others from the period starting at 1967.

As You know the models are strictly for my private amateur collection, and, as I’ve did with the Levin, I will share with You, on the forum, photos of the finished models whenever each is completed.

Thank You very much in advance.

Best Regards.

About Panontin: World Rallying 9 has Mauro Panontin in the ERC final classification (with 30 points scored in Haspengouw). In the 1992 Rally New Zealand entry list is Mario Panontin (I'll correct that in RallyBase this evening). Are there two drivers named Panontin or is it a mistake in World Rallying?

If you are sure that it's your friend that competed in those Belgian rallies in 1986, than the case is closed :) Thank you very much for posting on this forum and clarifying the issue.

Were these rallies selected for ERC 1972, or were they cancelled.
Otherwise does anyone have the results 1-10.

ERC 6 – Circuit of Ireland 31 March-4 April
ERC 9 - Deutschland Rallye 26-28 May
ERC 10 – Rally de Geneve 25-29 May
ERC 16 - Donau Rally 10-12 August

Thanks.
