FIVE COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS BUDGET PUBLIC HEARINGS NOTICEThe Five County Association of Governments is a voluntary association of local governments from the five southwestern counties of the State of Utah. The five counties in southwestern Utah that comprise the Five County Association of Governments are Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Kane and Washington. The Five County Association of Governments is guided by the Steering Committee, which is it's governing board. The Steering Committee is made up of one county commissioner from each county, one mayor from a city or town in each county, and one elected school board representative from each of the five county-wide school districts. In addition, there is one representative each from Utah Tech University and Southern Utah University that serve as ex-officio (non-voting) members of the committee.The Five County Association of Governments will hold two separate budget hearings. The two budget hearings will be held in Cedar City, Utah on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in conjunction with the meeting of the Five County Association of Governments' Steering Committee.The first budget hearing will be for the Association's FY2024 Final Budget Amendments for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. The second budget hearing will be for the Association's proposed FY2025 budget which will be for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. The public is invited to attend these hearings and provide comments in-person. Written comments may also be sent via e-mail to gzabriskie@fivecounty.utah.gov Written comments on the budgets sent in via e-mail must be received before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 to be considered.The Steering Committee's meeting and budget hearings will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and will begin at 1:00 p.m. The Steering Committee meeting will be held at Festival Hall (Combined Rooms 5 and 6) located at 96 N. Main St.; Cedar City, Utah.Prior to the Steering Committee meeting, a meeting of the Association's Finance Committee will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the same location. According to the Bylaws of the Association, the Finance Committee, composed of one county commissioner from each of the five member counties, will review the budgets and make a recommendation on the approval of the budgets to the full Steering Committee which will meet after their meeting is finished.In the interest of time, all Steering Committee members are being invited to attend the Finance Committee meeting, at 12:30 p.m. where the two budgets will be discussed in detail. The budgets will not be discussed in detail again during the Steering Committee meeting. If members of the public wish to hear the entire discussion on these two budgets, they should attend the Finance Committee meeting at 12:30 p.m. The public will be invited to provide comments on the two budgets during the Public Hearing held during the Steering Committee meeting.Copies of the Association's Final FY2024 Budget Amendments and the Proposed FY2025 Budget will be made available for public viewing on-line on the Association's website found at http://www.fivecounty.utah.gov or in-person during the regular business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Five County Association of Governments office building, located at 1070 West 1600 South, Building B, St. George, Utah.In compliance with applicable state of Utah requirements, this notice was also originally published in The Spectrum Newspaper on 06/02/2024.
